Why Timo Werner Is A Perfect Signing For Chelsea
Why Timo Werner Is A Perfect Signing For Chelsea
According to the telegraph, Timo Werner has agreed to join Chelsea from RB Leipzig. For a while now it looked as if Werner would join Liverpool. With Klopp’s Liverpool eventually pulling out of a deal, that allowed Chelsea to negotiate with the German side.
The Leipzig striker is in high demand, and this will be Frank’s second summer signing. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 24-year-old will sign a five-year deal.
Chelsea will have to pay around £53 million for the German, triggering his release clause.
Should the deal go through, what a coup this is for Frank Lampard’s team. A proven goalscorer, Werner has scored 25 goals in the Bundesliga this season.
Timo Werner is the real deal.
Looks to be worth every penny of his £49.4m (€60m) release clause.

Timo Werner Is A Perfect Signing for Chelsea
His blistering pace and his eye for goal have made him one of Europe’s best strikers.
With the potential arrival of Werner, this could spell the end for Michy Batshuayi, and maybe Olivier Giroud. This is a real statement of intent by Chelsea, and it’s a message to the rest of the Premier League that Chelsea means business, next season.
Chelsea’s problem this season is their ruthlessness in the final third. Aside from Tammy Abraham, who’s netted 15 goals this season, the Blues have struggled to find regular goalscorers, and that has cost them at times this season.
You can tell Lampard’s side have missed Hazard’s explosiveness in the final third this season.
Timo Werner offers so much to Chelsea’s frontline
He can play as a lone striker, or out wide (I wouldn’t want to see that, but it’s an option). Does this imply that Lampard has no faith in Tammy? I don’t think so.
Tammy and Timo can play together, with Werner in behind. This is the issue that Chelsea have had this season. Lampard has had to witness many injuries in Chelsea’s frontline, but with the signings of Ziyech and Werner, it only adds depth to a talented attack.
Frank is the type of manager to pick players based on their form, and with players like Abraham and Werner within his ranks, Chelsea will be challenging again next season.
It’s fair to say that Lampard has done well with his young squad this season and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for the Blues.
In my opinion, Werner is the perfect fit for Chelsea. He’s quick, his awareness in the box is unrivalled, and he adds so much versatility to Chelsea’s attack.
The Blues have struggled for an out and out goalscorer since Diego Costa, but can Werner be the man to take Chelsea’s attack to the next level?
It’ll be interesting to see what Lampard does with Tammy and Timo.
