Euro 2020: England vs Italy Preview
Euro 2020: England vs Italy Preview
After 55 long years of heartache, England are only one win away from their first major tournament trophy, since 1966. They will face a tough Italy side at their home ground of Wembley live from 8pm on BBC One.
The Three Lions showed great resilience and determination to come back from a goal down to get pasted Denmark in the semi-finals. While Italy had to do it via a penalty shootout against Spain after the two nations couldn’t be separated over 120 minutes of football.
Only 9 England players at this years European Championship were in Russia for the 2018 World Cup, where England suffered an agonizing 2-1 defeat to Croatia in the semi-final. Most of those players are now conceded as the experienced heads, which has proved vital in a very young England team.
From the first match of the tournament, Italy where shown as a team to fear, beating Turkey 3-0. They came out of their group with maximum points. Although it is fair to say that Italy haven’t had the easiest knockout stage route to the final. They had to get passed Austria, Belgium and Spain all of which were not easy.
England predicted XI: Pickford; Walker, Maguire, Stones; Trippier, Phillips, Rice, Shaw; Saka, Kane, Sterling
Italy predicted XI: Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Emerson; Jorginho, Barella, Verratti; Chiesa, Immobile, Insigne
