Head-to-head
- This will be the sixth time France and Germany have met at a major tournament. But the first ever time that has happened in the group stages.
- So far the head-to-head record between the two teams is perfectly balanced with 2 wins each and a draw.
France
- France are taking part in their 10th European Championship. Also their 8th in a row.
- Only Germany and Spain have have won more European Championships (3 each) then France (2, 1984 & 2ooo).
- Since 2014 (including the World Cup), France have won 14 of their last 19 games at a major tournament.
Germany
- Germany are taking part in their 13th European Championship, more than any other team. The game against France will be their 50th in the tournament, the first team to reach the milestone.
- Manager Joachim Low has led Germany to the semi-finals in five of his six previous tournaments (eliminated in the group stages at the 2018 World Cup).
In the 2 sides most recent meeting, France came out 2-1 winners (October 16th 2018.)
