NBA: Suns tie the Series, Davis groin injury

The Phoenix Suns get the win over the Los Angeles Lakers 100-92 on the road. This ties the series at 2-2 of the first round of the Western Conference.

The win was an all-around effort from the Phoenix squad, as 6 of the players had double-digit scores at the end of the game. Much of the shots that the Phoenix Suns had were wide-open shots as the Lakers had a 40% contested rate.

Chris Paul continued to fight through his shoulder injury. Nonetheless, he led the team with his floor presence and added 18 points and 9 assists to his stats.

On the offensive end, Devin Booker and Jae Crowder combined for 34 points, whilst Deandre Ayton was fighting under the rim with 17 rebounds and 12 points. For the Lakers, Lebron had 25 points on a roughly 50% field goal shooting.

During the closing seconds of the second quarter, Anthony Davis left the game with a groin injury. Following a layup attempt, Davis went to the ground and straight to the locker room during the halftime break. There is no information if Davis will be back for game 5. However, with Caldwell-Pope also missing, if Davis does not return Lebron James will have a lot of weight to carry for the rest of the series.

However, Lebron said after the game: “These shoulders were built for a reason. So, if it takes for me to put some more on top of it, then so be it. Win, lose or draw, I’m ready for the challenge.”

After Davis left the game, the Suns opened a double-digit lead in the third quarter and never looked back. They were up as much as 18 points during the second half of the game and maintained their dominance throughout the 3rd and 4th quarters.

With the Suns taking game 4 this changes the dynamic of the series. They bring back their home-court advantage and look forward to playing game 5 back in Arizona. If Chris Paul and company go up 3-2 against the Lakers they might have a shot at getting past Lebron James.

However, the story for game 5 remains if Anthony Davis will be playing or not.
