Should Harry Kane should leave Tottenham Hotspur?
Should Harry Kane should leave Tottenham Hotspur?
The 2020/21 Premier League season has been a thriller so far and Harry Kane has been a standout performer. A player of Kane’s quality needs to be playing at the highest level, winning trophies whilst doing so, which is why a move away from Spurs would be best suited for the Englishmen if he wants to reach new heights in his career.
Kane has provided 16 goals and 13 assists in the league this season, 23 goal contributions in 19 games is a whopping return and accounts to 68% of Spurs’ goals, a statistic that cannot go unrecognised. Spurs currently sit seventh in the league, so this causes questions as to whether Kane’s remarkable output is being unrewarded in his current side, and the reasoning as to why a move away is pivotal in order to excel even more.

Kane is continuing to improve as a player and seems to be bettering himself each year, having already surpassed his goal contributions for the 18/19 (21), and 19/20 (20) Premier League seasons, and doing so in fewer games. However, it seems that Kane has offered all he can in his current side and despite his extraordinary returns, during Kane’s 7 years of regular playing time at Spurs he is yet to win any silverware.
Jose Mourinho’s side have reached the EFL Cup final and will take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side in April. A Spurs victory could be a step in the right direction and could tempt Kane to hang fire and remain at the London club, following a trophy.
Despite this, a move elsewhere in the Premier League to Solskjaer’s’ Manchester United could be hugely beneficial for Kane and could elevate him to the next step in his career. In the current United side, Kane’s all-round performance would be hugely complimented by his peers around him, helping him rally his numbers up even more and gain trophy success.
Kane has adapted a role of dropping in deep to collect the ball, and then feeding the ball to his wingers, which has led to many assists for him this season. This style would be well suited to United, who like to play with fast wingers and could see Kane link well with the likes of Rashford, Greenwood, Martial and Dan James who are all direct players that offer bags of pace. On top of this, it is without a doubt Kane’s goal scoring numbers would improve with the creativity of Bruno Fernandes behind him, a similar like player to Christian Eriksen who provided assists for Kane in both seasons which saw him collect the Premier League Golden Boot award (2015/16 & 16/17).

United’s sides have been rather depleted since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson following the 12/13 season; however, the Reds have managed to win 3 major trophies during this period. An underperforming side that still have trophy success is eye catching and would be a step up for Kane, and a move to the world’s biggest football club with a winning mentality is something near impossible to turn down. A move to the Theatre of Dreams could be influential in Kane’s journey to chase down Alan Shearer’s record and overtake the fellow Englishmen to become the Premier League all-time top goal scorer.
Despite the fact a summer move could be beneficial for Kane, questions have arisen as to whether any clubs will be willing to meet the asking price for the striker. As a result of Kane’s remarkable numbers and overall play which have been at the highest level for several seasons now, Daniel Levy would not be willing to sell for anything short of Kane’s proven value. In today’s extreme transfer market, it would take a fee of between £100-150 million for Spurs to consider selling their star man.
With Harry Kane turning 28 in the summer, on top of his injuries that seem to be more frequent in recent years, clubs may look elsewhere for their new front man. Borussia Dortmund’s, Erling Haaland, who is just 20 years of age and is one of football’s hottest prospects, may be where European giants are more tempted to offer and pursue their interest.
Will Harry Kane be denied the opportunity of a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in attempt to reach new heights in his career?
