Who Might be on the Move in the Summer?

Top 5 Potential Football Transfers in Summer 2021

The January 2021 transfer window has now been and gone. This means the attention now turns to clubs plans for the summer. In this article we will take a look at 5 football players who could make a big transfer move this summer.

Erling Haaland – Borussia Dortmund

The transfer speculation that consistently surrounds Haaland is simply due to the fact he is one of the best footballers in the world at this moment in time. At only 20 years of age, the young Norwegian will only improve over the coming years.

The staggering numbers he is setting in the Bundesliga, and especially the Champions League, makes it understandable as to why clubs all over Europe are chasing the Norwegians signature this summer.

Manchester City could be in the market for a long term replacement for Sergio Aguero and they have a ready-made option in Erling Haaland. The major stumbling block for most clubs would be the transfer fee Borussia Dortmund would demand. However, Manchester City, with their wealthy ownership, are one of the few clubs that could test Dortmund’s resolve.

Martin Odegaard – Real Madrid (Currently on loan – Arsenal)

Despite falling out of favour under Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, the once brightest prospect in world football has been able to adjust well in his loan move to Arsenal.

The time in North London could be used as an opportunity for Odegaard to break back into Zinedine Zidane’s plans at Los Blancos, or secure a permanent transfer to Arsenal. Mikel Arteta definitely seems to be an admirer of the 22 year old, and the relationship between the two clubs seems to be strong with the past dealings the clubs have had.

Moise Kean – Everton (Currently on loan – Paris Saint-Germain)

The young Italian will have another big decision to make in the early stages of his career. The previous major decision he made has not gone entirely according to plan thus far. His transfer from Juventus to Everton was bold, although ultimately unsuccessful. Failing to adapt to life in Merseyside, the young talent has been plying his trade in Paris under former manager Thomas Tuchel, and now Mauricio Pochettino.

The speculation around the likelihood of moving on from Everton has been fuelled by his alignment with super-agent Mino Raiola. An agent that has had a history of being involved in big money moves, especially when his clients have been unsettled. The likelihood of Kean moving this summer is high, but whether that destination is PSG remains to be seen. Most transfers in football have a domino effect. The chances of Kean moving to PSG could be reliant on the departure of the next player on this list.

Kylian Mbappe – Paris Saint-Germain

Already an early contender for the Ballon d’Or award, Kylian Mbappe is undeniably a world class footballer at 22 years of age. The speculation surrounding his upcoming contract renewal suggests Mbappe has a big decision to make in the near future. Having won all major domestic trophies in France for both PSG and Monaco, could the Frenchman seal a move abroad and further test himself in a more competitive league? Most would argue it seems a matter of when he decides to leave Ligue 1.

Having got to the Champions League Final last year, he will be hoping to go one step further this year. His ambitions may go beyond the Champions League and wanting a new challenge in a new league. The departure of Mbappe from PSG seems to be somewhat inevitable, but could the mega transfer take place in summer 2021?

Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur

The premier league icon is linked with a big move nearly every year. This is no surprise as one of the greatest strikers in world football goes year on year without silverware. The speculation only mounts as Tottenham Hotspurs and Harry Kane’s wait for a major honour continues. With his former boss now back in management, the common link would be to suggest that a move to PSG could take place. This move is further fuelled by the speculation surrounding the future of current PSG forward Kylian Mbappe. However, this transfer would depend on Harry Kane’s ambition domestically. A move to Spain, Germany, Italy or another English side would be of higher interest.

He will have no shortage of suitors. Although, the price tag Daniel Levy places on the Englishmen could thwart the plans of many clubs. At now 27 years of age, he will be hoping to add trophies to his impressive resume soon. Leaving Tottenham may be the only viable way of achieving those aspirations.
