Harry Kane Transfer Saga: Why Manchester City Must Sign Kane
Sunday’s defeat by Tottenham highlighted the need for Manchester City to sign England captain, Harry Kane. Pep Guardiola’s side have now failed to score in their last 2 matches, previously losing 1-0 to Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley. Despite the last couple of season’s being disrupted by injuries, Sergio Aguero’s departure to Barcelona has left a significant gap in City’s squad. This summer they have the opportunity to sign a world-class player who will guarantee goals for seasons to come.
With today's defeat, Manchester City have lost on the opening weekend of the Premier League for the first time since 2008. Pep Guardiola reacts to their 1-0 loss against Spurs.

Another Defeat At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Manchester City continued their struggles at Spurs’ new stadium, again failing to win in North London. Despite fielding an exciting, attacking forward line, comprising of Ferran Torres, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, they only recorded 4 shots on target. Jack Grealish was also uncharacteristically quiet start on his full Manchester City debut. City fans can rightfully argue that this wasn’t their full strength line-up, with Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus all on the bench, but they should have possessed enough quality to at least earn a draw on Sunday.

Kane Transfer Saga
Harry Kane expressed his desire to leave Tottenham in May and hinted at preferring a move to Manchester City to play with Kevin De Bruyne. Since the conclusion of the Euros the speculation has intensified as the end of the transfer window looms. It has seemingly come down to a battle of wills, between Kane and Spurs’ Chairman, Daniel Levy. Manchester City have expressed an interest in signing the England striker, but Levy has indicated that he will not sell Kane, even if the £160 million asking price is met. Guardiola’s side are still interested in making the transfer, but it is looking increasingly likely that it is going to go down to the wire.

Why Manchester City Need Kane
Manchester City must sign Harry Kane because they currently lack a spearhead to finish all their creativity and he has shown over recent seasons that he is a world-class forward. At 28 years old, Kane is potentially coming into the best years of his career and this is a great opportunity for City to secure his services for the next 4-5 years. Kane has shown for England that he is more than a goal-scorer. He is capable of dropping deep, taking the ball from the midfield and starting attacks through clever passes or by making driving runs. He can also free up space for other players, as defenders will be aware of the threat he poses and are more likely to be drawn towards him, which in turn will open space for others to exploit.
