Tommy Fleetwood – John Catlin – Haotong Li
Fleetwood plays in the European Tour for the first time since the Dubai Desert Classic. Since returning from lockdown his best finish has been a T29 at the PGA Championship.
Catlin claimed his first ever European Tour victory last week at the Andalucia Masters and, in the process, moved to 35th in the Race to Dubai standings.
Li has had some consistent results since competitive golf returned. He finished T17 at the PGA Championship and had a Top 10 finish at the Wales Open.
Guido Migliozzi – Oliver Fisher – Joost Luiten
Migliozzi had a solid T6 finish at last week’s Andalucia Masters. The young Italian won twice last year so will be looking to claim his first victory in 2020.
Fisher has one Top 10 finish this season, coming at the British Masters. He became the first person on the European Tour to shoot a 59; it came at this event.
Luiten currently sits 75th in the Race to Dubai standings with only one Top 10 since returning from lockdown.
Steven Brown – Lucas Bjerregaard – Brandon Stone
Brown is this year’s defending champion after a one stroke victory in 2019. He has two Top 10 finishes in has last four starts.
Bjerregaard claimed his first ever European Tour win at this event in 2017. He has struggled with form recently, with two missed cuts in three starts.
Stone finished runner-up to Brown last year. He missed the cut at last week’s Andalucia Masters.
The Course
The Portugal Masters has been played on the Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course at Vilamoura since 2007.
Some big names have played and won at this event. Players like Lee Westwood, Padraig Harrington and current Open Champion Shane Lowry have seen victory in the Portugal Masters.
Last year Englishman Steven Brown shot 17-under-par and claimed a one shot victory over the South African duo of Brandon Stone and Justin Walters.
Tommy Fleetwood will be the heavy favourite going into the event, but after last week’s action, any number of players could win come Sunday.
