Southern European media is reporting that ex-Chesterfield FC and Matlock Town FC midfielder Harry Wood is attracting the attention of an undisclosed second-tier French Ligue 2 side.

Harry Wood, a twenty-year-old midfielder, came through the Matlock Town FC development system. Wood signed his first professional contract last summer for second tier Maltese side Lija Athletic FC.

Wood made ten first team appearances last season, scoring one goal and chipping in with three assists. The Englishman helped the side gain promotion from Division One to the Premier Division. He is now attracting interest from another European club.

Lija Athletic FC Team Manager, Colin Ciantar, is quoted saying on popular TV program Replay: “There has been an enquiry regarding Harry, but we are keen to keep him until January to help achieve our aim of staying in the Premier League and reassess from there.”

With Wood starting to establish himself as an integral part of a Lija side that will now be operating at the highest level in the country, the Maltese outfit will be keen to keep hold of him.

However, if the unnamed Ligue 2 side do come knocking, it may prove difficult for Tan-Nar to prevent a move for Wood. It would be a further step in his development as a player.
