Chelsea 0 – 3 Bayern Munich

Frank Lampard’s Blues outclassed by Bayern Munich

Chelsea’s chances of reaching the quarter finals of the Champions League now look slim after a 3-0 home defeat to current Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich.

Serge Gnabry continued his good form against London clubs in the Champions League with a brace at Stamford Bridge, the German now scoring six goals in London in this season’s Champions League campaign.

Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski also netted a goal taking his tally to eleven Champions League goals this season, the Polish international currently the top scorer in the competition.

The 3-0 defeat for the Blues see’s their Champions League campaign at a near end with the second leg to come on the 18th March at the Allianz Arena.

Napoli 1 – 1 Barcelona

Barcelona head back to Spain with vital away goal

Napoli and Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw at the San Paolo Stadium. Dries Mertens put the Italian side ahead in the 30th minute putting the home side in-front heading into half time, the goal making the Belgian joint top goalscorer of all- time for Napoli with 121 goals.

Barcelona equalised in the 57th minute with Antoine Griezmann finding the net from a Nelson Semedo cross, Griezmann finding his 14th goal in all competitions for Barcelona since joining in July from Atletico Madrid.

The second leg is set to take place on Wednesday 18th March at Nou Camp. Barcelona will head into the second leg as favourites although Quique Setién’s team will be without key figures such as Vidal and Sergio Busquets due to bookings.
