Man City overcome Leicester City to be within one point of second place

Man City produce impressive performance to beat in-form Leicester City 3-1

Man City fought back from a goal behind to see them move within one point of Leicester City who sit in second. The result meant Liverpool now sit 10 points clear of the Premier League with a game in hand.

Man City started the game brightly however it was Leicester who broke the deadlock in the 21st minute with Jamie Vardy making an impressive run, chipping the ball past Ederson who came off his line in an attempt make the save.

Former Leicester player Riyad Mahrez equalised in the 30th minute with his shot from the edge of the box taking a deflection and sending Kasper Schmeichel the wrong way.

Man City took the lead just before half time with Iker Gundogan converting a penalty, Schmeichel getting a hand to the ball but not being able to keep it out.

Guardiola’s side doubled the lead in the 68th minute with Kevin De Bruyne putting the ball on a plate for Gabriel Jesus at the back post, the Brazilian unmarked and able to slot the ball into the open goal.

Leicester go up against Liverpool, in what will be a huge match, next Thursday whereas Manchester City travel to Wolves on Friday.
